Bill at the DNC

Blanching beach asparagus for freezing with PBS' re-airing of Bill Clinton's speech from earlier today on in the background...my favorite line so far?

"People abroad have always been more impressed by the power of our examples than by examples of our power."

Oh!

Love it!

EDIT: Just heard my second favorite line: "Barack Obama's life is a 21st century example of the good old fashioned American Dream!."

oh what a great phrase. And as someone watching the election unfold from another country, I can't agree with it more.

Thanks for commenting on my blog. Sorry it's got me so long to recipricate. I love that you get to do anthropology and nurse-midwifery - what a perfect combination!

I'd love to hear more about midwifery in the US. It's had such a divergent history from the UK and the effects now are profound.

Hey! Thanks for the reciprocation! It wasn't needed or expected, but I'll never argue with it! (I suppose that's kinda the nature of reciprocity though.)

My combination of anthropology and nurse midwifery is still just a dream right now- but hopefully one that will come to fruition. I'm in the process of applying to graduate schools now-- I imagine my blog my start to focus on those trials and tribulations more in the coming months. I have great hope for that plan though!

Now that you mention it, I can't say that I know a whole lot about midwifery in the UK either--except I recall reading somewhere that it has a more established and accepted place in mainstream medical care. Is this the case?
